Equalizer settings FAQ

How do I set up an equalizer?

Start with every band at 0 dB, play a song you know well, and change one band at a time by 2–3 dB. Cut a frequency you dislike before boosting one you like, and keep the overall volume the same when you compare.

What is the best equalizer setting?

There is no single best setting. It depends on your headphones or speakers, the room and the music. The presets here are good starting points that you can adjust by ear.

What do the dB numbers mean?

They show how much each frequency band is raised or lowered. +3 dB is a clearly audible boost and -3 dB a clearly audible cut. Changes beyond ±6 dB are strong.
